We recently had a grandmother come in asking for help with paying her past-due rent. She shared that she had fallen behind in payments due to being on hospice and trying to pay for her medical treatments. She also had custody of her fifteen year old grandson and was using what money she had to make sure that he was fed and cared for.ย Fortunately, her landlord is someone who we have a long-term relationship with, so we were able to pay a larger amount of her past-due rent to help her avoid the eviction process and allow her to continue receiving hospice treatment at home.
