A grandmother came in with her 10 year old grandson asking for assistance in paying her past-due utility bill. Her electricity was going to be shut off soon and she was concerned about how she would care for her two grandchildren at home without any power. In talking with her, she shared that she often put the needs of her grandchildren before her own. She had a doctor’s appointment that day but did not want to use the little money that she had on gas to get there. SMARM was able to pay her utility bill and even helped her with gas to get to her appointment.
