A 38 year old mother of 2 children came in requesting assistance for her rent. She had been out of work for 2 months. She had worked in a mobile healthcare unit for a “friend” for over 9 years and had worked above and beyond full-time. She was being stretched and taken advantage of in ways that extended way beyond her job duties and was forced to make the tough decision to quit after her friend and supervisor became angry about her children’s middle school enrollment (thinking transportation issues would cut into work hours). While looking for employment, she became delinquent on rent since her child support would not cover all of her bills. SMARM was able to help with a portion of her rent and keep her in her and her children in their current housing.
