SMARM has seen the need  to give long-term support and resources to qualifying families.  For many families, the need for extra and/or emergency help is a life cycle passed down from generation to generation.   Constructive  leadership and education has not been in place to change the pattern.

SMARM saw this need and the need to change the pattern as something that could and should be one of our main ministries.  Hence, the A Step More ministry evolved. Through this ministry, families are given resources to not only help them get established in a long-term living situation, but also given help with decisions, support, life-skills,  planning and budgeting.

A Step More ministry is designed for  families and individuals who are established in our area and may or not have a place to live. SMARM can often offset “move-in” costs/deposits or assist in delinquencies that would otherwise end in eviction. All adults in the family should be employed and/or have a steady and reliable  income adequate to sustain and pay bills on time.   The clients must be willing to actively participate in the program including financial contributions, mentoring sessions, community service, etc.

Local churches and businesses can be involved with the A Step More Ministry by providing financial support to SMARM and mentors that will invest time and leadership to the clients.   The mentor and client can meet to discuss practical tips such as budgeting and home/family management.
